Teaching and Learning Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

As we continue in our push to raise standards, I am writing to update you on our focus for the remainder of this half-term around our “Safe, Ready, Respectful” ethos. Following a successful focus on ensuring that students are “safe” in school and “respectful” to staff and each other, we will now be working on the importance of being “ready”.

You will no doubt already be aware that at The Edge, we are fully committed to providing well planned and engaging lessons, tasks suited to students’ specific needs and providing regular feedback on how to make good progress.

Our recently strengthened team of staff will therefore be reminding students of the importance of:

  • Arriving to lessons ready to learn.
  • Engaging with lessons to ensure that they are ready for the learning challenges ahead.
  • Leaving lessons being able to articulate their new learning and how this is preparing them to be ready to seize future life opportunities.

We offer a range of support in class as well as out of class and are more than happy to talk though any individual student’s needs in person if you wish to contact us. We are keen to develop the curriculum section of our website over the coming weeks and months with information and resources for every subject we offer so please let us know if there is anything in this area you would particularly like to see.

We truly appreciate your support in ensuring that students understand these expectations and our staff will be providing catch up resources or additional work for those that need it. Students regularly failing to complete work, or not working to an acceptable standard will be subject to the full-range of sanctions detailed in our behaviour policy.

If you have any further questions regarding this letter, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Yours faithfully,

Charlotte Poynton

Assistant Principal
