Dear Parent/ Carer,

I hope you and your children are all well at the end of what has been a very busy half-term! I am writing with some key updates ahead of the last day of the half-term and the beginning of the new half-term.

Firstly, I am pleased to confirm that we have had no positive staff or student cases of Coronavirus in the building since May 4th. Despite this, it is important we all remain vigilant and that all students continue to take their lateral flow tests at home, logging them on our website at: https://www.theedgeacademy.co.uk/google-form/

Secondly, I would like to remind you all that the half-term finishes on Friday 28th May at 2pm for all students, with the exception of students on the Year 10 Go-Karting Reward Trip who arrive back at school at 3.15pm on this day. Summer Half-Term 2 begins for all students on Monday 7th June at 9.15am.

I would once again like to thank you and your children for your commitment to school life since our fuller reopening on March 8th. It has been a pleasure to see the effort and achievements of our students in lessons during this time, and we will of course continue to help and support our community in every way we can moving forward.

As you know, we have high expectations of all of our students and at the beginning of the new half-term, we would ask that you bear in mind the following as part of our “Safe, Ready, Respectful” curriculum and ethos:

  • Due to the end of the recent colder weather and due to the continuing relaxation of hairdressing restrictions, we will be returning to our normal policy of students being required to remove all jackets, hats, gloves and hoods from the beginning of Summer Half-Term 2.
  • 100% attendance and punctuality continues to be important to us. From the beginning of Summer Half-Term 2, any parents/ carers of students whose attendance or punctuality dips below expectations risk being subject to legal “Fast-Track” proceedings.
  • In accordance with the latest government guidance, we have been proactive on our social media accounts recently in promoting our updated “Relationships and Sex Education” curriculum. Details on this can be found in full at: https://www.theedgeacademy.co.uk/learning-from-home-life-skills/ If you have any questions regarding any aspect of this, please feel free to contact our Assistant Principal and Personal Development Lead Charlotte Poynton at: [email protected]

Please contact me directly at [email protected] if you have any general questions regarding this letter, or if there are any other matters I can help with in any way.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Wakefield
