Principal’s Update as at April 23rd 2023

Dear Parent/ Carer,

I hope you are well as we move into the second week of the Summer Term; I look forward to seeing you all in person at our “Fish and Chip” Parents’ Evening on Thursday 27th April which runs between 3.30-6pm.

Firstly, I would like to update you on the latest regarding the National Education Union (NEU) strike action you have no doubt heard about in the news.

Given that we are a comparatively small school as an Alternative Provision setting, we will be fully open as normal for the forthcoming dates on which the NEU is taking industrial action, namely Thursday April 27th and Tuesday May 2nd.

For those of you who are unaware, the NEU’s dispute is with the Secretary of State, as “she has failed to give the undertaking sought by the NEU to make available additional and sufficient funds to allow employers to pay a fully funded increase in teachers’ pay at a rate greater than inflation”.

Secondly, I would like to welcome Sharon McKenna to the staff; Sharon has started with us as a Pastoral Officer this term and will be a key member of our Intervention Team. We would also like to congratulate Jess Stone on the recent birth of her baby daughter and wish her well as she begins her maternity leave.

As usual, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] if there are any further questions I can assist with in any way regarding this letter.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Wakefield

Principal
