England World Cup Football Match November 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

You will no doubt be aware that the 2022 FIFA World Cup opens this weekend in Qatar. England play the first of their 3 groups matches on Monday 21st November with a 1pm kick-off. All of England’s remaining group matches are evening kick-offs.

After speaking to students, we are planning to modify our school day provision to allow the school community to support this opening match of the tournament for England. It will be a great opportunity for students and staff to come together collectively to experience and enjoy the World Cup 2022.

The length of the school day will not be affected, and the only modification will be regarding one afternoon lesson and tutor time.

Lunch will commence at 1pm in the canteen to coincide with the kick-off on the large screen TV showing the game. The canteen will remain open to provide drinks and snacks for the second half of the game. For any students who do not wish to watch, activities or work will be provided for independent study supervised by staff.

Advance notice also that we expect to run our traditional end of term “Cultural Capital Week” between Monday 12th December and Friday 16th December and we will be in touch over the coming weeks to confirm arrangements for this.

I would like to advise you that due to additional staff training agreed by governors, school will close to students at 12.15pm on Thursday 15th December. Students will be provided with a “grab bag of food” upon departure.

Should you have any queries regarding this modification to the school day, please do not hesitate to contact the school, or myself directly via [email protected]

Yours faithfully

Adam Smith
