Diary Date Reminder/ NEU Strike Update as at January 31st

Dear Parent/ Carer,

I hope you are well and would like to start by thanking you for all of your support so far this this term; as always it is much appreciated. I am writing to remind you of a diary date, inform you of a new diary date and also to update you on the National Education Union (NEU) strike action you have no doubt heard about in the news.

Firstly, a reminder that school is closed to all students on Wednesday February 1st. As you know, this was a pre-planned INSET Day and is not connected to the strike action taking place nationally on the same day. School re-opens for all students as normal on Thursday February 2nd at 9.15am.

Given that we are a comparatively small school as an Alternative Provision setting, at present we expect to be fully open as normal for the other forthcoming dates on which the NEU is taking industrial action, namely Wednesday March 1st, Wednesday March 15th and Thursday March 16th.

For those of you who are unaware, the NEU’s dispute is with the Secretary of State, as “she has failed to give the undertaking sought by the NEU to make available additional and sufficient funds to allow employers to pay a fully funded increase in teachers’ pay at a rate greater than inflation”.

Finally, I would like to give you advance warning that governors have agreed an additional training day on Thursday March 30th.

As usual, please also feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] if there are any further questions I can assist with in any way regarding this letter.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Wakefield

Principal
