Autumn Half-Term 2 Reward Trip

Parents/ Carers,
Following the success of our reward trips last half-term to Rush Trampolining Park and the Sea-Life Centre, I am delighted to inform you that we are running a second reward trip which will take place within the academy day on Tuesday November 21st. As we are currently focusing on the importance of “attending to achieve”, the criteria for qualifying for the trip will be to achieve 100% attendance between now and the date of the trip. Any days missed to exclusions or internal exclusions will automatically disqualify students from the trip- the academy’s leadership reserve the right to look at any other individual cases on a case-by-case basis where the criteria is not met.
As part of our ongoing commitment to student voice, we have put together two different options based on students’ suggestions and your child has a choice which trip they would like to attend. We will fully fund both trips and will provide a packed lunch for your child so there is no cost to you whatsoever.

Option 1
Go Ape, Cannock
Students need to arrive at school at 9.15 as normal, where staff will greet them and transport them via minibus to Go Ape, Cannock. They will then get the fantastic opportunity to enjoy several hours in the trees on site taking on zip wires, “Tarzan” swings, rope ladders and a variety of obstacles and crossings – some of which are up to 46 feet high! Go Ape Cannock has the longest combined length of crossings of any Go Ape site- “The Ropes Passage” is a particular test of nerve, and upon completing the high ropes course adventurers are rewarded with stunning views and a 260m zip wire! Students will be brought back to The Edge for the end of the academy day and dismissed between 2.30 and 3.15.

Option 2
Hollywood Bowl/ Group Meal Activity Day
Students again need to arrive at school at 9.15 as normal; staff will greet them and transport them using public transport to Hollywood Bowl Rubery where a supervised morning of bowling will take place. At the end of this activity, students will enjoy a group meal together at Frankie & Benny’s restaurant in Rubery- they will then be brought back to The Edge for the end of the academy day and dismissed between 2.30 and 3.15.
Your child does not have to wear uniform but will of course be expected to behave according to our code of conduct at all times. Your son/daughter will need to wear clothes suitable for sporting activities if you select the first trip option, and must also bring some clothing suitable for wet weather if you select this option. You may wish to provide your son/daughter with a small amount of spending money for additional refreshments throughout the day.

I would be grateful if you could return the reply slip below by Friday November 17th, making clear which trip option your child would prefer. In any cases prior to the day of the trip where students no longer meet the criteria for attending the trip, your child’s tutor will call you and discuss the withdrawal reasons with you. Any further questions in the meantime, please let me know.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew Wakefield
Vice Principal
