Letter to parents Barry Island

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am delighted to inform you that your child has been invited on a trip to Barry Island, Wales, on Thursday 18th July 2019.

The reason for the visit is to develop them culturally, whilst thoroughly enjoying a day out in Wales to celebrate their hard work and success over this academic year or since joining The Edge Academy.

The visit will comprise of the following:

  • Return coach trip to Wales
  • Three and a half hours on the beach, in the sea or playing team games
  • Going to the funfair

We will provide a packed lunch, ice cream, £10.00 worth of funfair tokens and sun cream free of charge to your child. We will also have a selection of buckets and spades for them to use throughout the day.

We will leave The Edge Academy at 8.30am and will return at approximately 6.00pm dependent on traffic – we will keep you updated on the traffic conditions.

Your child will need to take the following:

  • Swimwear (if appropriate)
  • A towel
  • A change of clothes/ footwear in case they get wetter than expected!
  • Any further refreshments they may require

If the weather is poor on the day of the trip, we will still head to Wales to make the best of the day – we may incorporate a trip to the cinema.

Whilst we hope your child has an incredible experience in Wales, it is important that their behaviour, attitude to staff and the public and safety is paramount. Therefore, I ask you to talk to your child about the importance of staying with members of staff at all times and behaving in an appropriate and impeccable manner.

Please find a sheet attached including a reply slip you will need to fill in with important medical and emergency contact details.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries regarding the trip. (0121 533 5858)

Yours sincerely,

Claire Fairburn

(Assistant Principal)
