Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you are well as we begin what is already the fifth week of the Autumn Term 2021/22. I would also like to start by thanking you all for the incredible and record-breaking turnout at our Parents’ Evening last Thursday- it was a pleasure to meet you all once again and your support of our work and our students is much appreciated.

I am writing today principally to update you on the latest issues around the continuing Coronavirus pandemic. Following the on-site Coronavirus testing we carried out at the beginning of term, you will be aware that all students have now been issued with “lateral flow” tests and we would be grateful if you could ensure that your child continues to test twice a week and log results online at: https://www.theedgeacademy.co.uk/google-form/ It was great to see so many of you collect additional sets of tests on Thursday evening and if for any reason you require more, please contact Calum Hill at [email protected]

I can also confirm that the Birmingham School Nurse team have provisionally booked in with us on Friday 12th November 2021 to offer all students Coronavirus vaccinations. Consent forms will be sent out by the team prior to this and will need returning to school for your child to receive their vaccination. For the latest government guidance about the vaccination for 12-17 year olds please refer to: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-resources-for-children-and-young-people/covid-19-vaccination-a-guide-for-eligible-children-and-young-people-aged-12-to-17

Finally, a reminder that as per previous correspondence, school is closed to students on Thursday September 30th and Friday October 1st for calendared staff training days. Students return to school (or work experience placements in the case of Year 11) as normal following this on Monday 4th October at 9.15am. Don’t forget that all term dates for 2021/22 are online at: https://www.theedgeacademy.co.uk/calendar-2020-21/ .

As always, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] if there are any further questions I can assist with in any way regarding this letter.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Wakefield

Principal
