Dear Parent/ Carer,

As we near the end of an academic year filled with uncertainty, we would like to congratulate year 11 students on their determination and commitment to achieve. This year group have overcome challenges that no other group have experienced, we also want to thank you for supporting them through these unprecedented times.

As the push for “conventional GCSE academic work” ends today, I am writing to assure you that our commitment to our Year 11 students does not. I am delighted to tell you that we will be offering year 11 students a bespoke programme of activities every Monday from now until the last week of term. Students are expected to attend school 9.30-12.30 for project work around entrepreneurship, developing media skills and honing their essential skills. Grab bags of food will be available for students to take home with them upon dismissal at 12.30. They will also be set careers related project work to complete at home. To help and support our students for the maximum length of time possible, the last week for year 11 attendance will be the week commencing Monday 19th July, when they will have a Go Karting trip to celebrate their time at the Edge.

In addition to the Monday in-school teaching sessions, students will be completing their Work Related Learning placements on Wednesdays. Students at Envirohort and Southside will need to attend until their qualifications are signed off. Work experience placements have also been arranged to continue until July 21st 2021. We will of course continue to check that all students are safe and well as we normally do.

Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any queries or concerns.

Yours sincerely,

Charlotte Poynton
