Start of Spring Half-Term 2 Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all well and that your son/ daughter enjoyed the half-term holiday. As always, I am writing to you at the beginning of term to share some key updates.

Firstly, I am delighted to inform you that Calum Hill has now started with us in his role as Lead Teacher of Mathematics. This is a key appointment for us in terms of continuing to strengthen our teaching staff, if you have any queries regarding Mathematics from now on, please feel free to contact Calum at [email protected].

I will also in our opening assembly this week be introducing our students to Nic Redhead, Headteacher from REACH School. We have established close links with REACH in recent years, they provide us with a variety of effective support as an OFSTED “good” graded alternative provision school located in Kings Heath. Nic is already known to a number of our students and I am delighted that she will be with us at regular intervals this half-term helping and supporting us on our rapid improvement journey.

Secondly, as we continue to raise standards, I am writing to update you on our focus for this half-term around our “Safe, Ready, Respectful” ethos. The vast majority of our students consistently display “respectful” behaviour and it is important to us that we further develop this given the importance of “respect” in effective staff/ student relationships and in preparing students for further/higher education and the world of work.

We will therefore as a team of staff be reminding students of the importance of:

  • Use of respectful language
  • Respect for school facilities and equipment

Any students who are verbally abusive towards staff or vandalise school property will therefore be subject to the full-range of sanctions detailed in our behaviour policy, which may include fixed-term exclusion.

I look forward to the half-term ahead, if you have any further questions regarding this letter, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Wakefield

Principal
