Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope that you are all well and that your children have enjoyed the first fortnight of Autumn Half-Term 2. It has once again been a pleasure to see students showing a positive attitude to learning and engaging with our “Safe, Ready, Respectful” curriculum.

Firstly, I am pleased to give another positive update re-Coronavirus. We have still had no new cases reported in school since Monday September 21st, and so once more, the school remains fully open on a full-time basis for all students. Providing your child remains well, they should continue to attend school as normal. You may be interested in the latest government update for parents and carers, which can be found in full at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/what-parents-and-carers-need-to-know-about-early-years-providers-schools-and-colleges-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak/what-parents-and-carers-need-to-know-about-early-years-providers-schools-and-colleges-in-the-autumn-term

Secondly, I would like to thank you all for students’ continuing excellent attendance, which is now 23% higher than students’ home school attendance prior to joining us. It was also pleasing to see students’ achieve their best punctuality of the academic year last week, with 45% of students arriving at school early for Breakfast Club before the start of the school day. Don’t forget that all students, including those in Key Stage 4 who previously had a “staggered start” time, can now access our free Breakfast Club once again from 8.45am every morning. Please be aware that in the isolated cases where attendance and punctuality is not in line with our expectations, we are now once again in line with national guidance following “Fast-Track” procedures which can lead to fines and prosecutions.

Finally, further to our previous letter about supporting families whose children are Pupil Premium, we are delighted to hear that Northfield Food Service, who delivered hot meals to 25% of our entire student roll over the half-term period, are extending their service. The group will be delivering hot meals to families on Thursdays from now on, and will initially be prioritising the same families who received food over the half-term period. If you require any help and support in this respect, whichever part of the Midlands you are from, please let us know.

As always, please also feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] if there are any further issues I can assist with in any way.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Wakefield

Principal
