Dear Parent/Carer,
I am delighted and honoured to be appointed as the interim Headteacher for The Edge Academy, and I am very keen to get to know parents, as well as the students and staff. From my experience of being a senior leader in a number of different schools, I know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together.
I would like to thank the governors and Mrs Silverton for their support in enabling a smooth transition. Mrs Silverton will be further supporting me as Assistant Principal as we move forward.
My educational philosophy is simple. I believe every child should be given the opportunity to be the best that they can be. To do this, the academy must help students to develop skills and obtain qualifications to give them choices when they leave. Personal development plays a central role at The Edge Academy and I believe this is vital in helping students to be confident, happy, citizens. Academic achievement is equally as important, however, and I will strive to ensure that at The Edge Academy we give every child the opportunity to achieve relevant, high quality qualifications to provide them with the stepping stones to their dreams.
In order to be successful, it is important students attend and engage. It is for this reason I urge you to ensure attendance is a priority.
I am keen to find out what you think of the academy and will be in touch again very soon to share news of a parent event and a link to a parent survey. If you have a pressing matter in the meantime, however, please do not hesitate to contact me via reception. I will endeavour to respond to queries and concerns as quickly as possible.
