We are delighted to be back in the swing of things now that the 2021/22 academic year is well underway!

It has been a pleasure to see all of our students return to The Edge Academy and we look forward to welcoming new learners throughout the year!

Last year’s Year 11 students achieved brilliantly, yet again, even though they had some hardships along the way with having to work from home for some of their learning. We are so proud of their efforts and the sheer tenacity and resilience they displayed.

This year, students, as usual, have seen all of the long term plans in every subject for the academic year, and have knowledge of all of the topics, themes and texts they will study.

If there is a need to learn from home again, the work will be adapted for individuals to complete at home using a wide range of resources to support them.

Physical work packs will be brought to every student’s home covering every subject taught. Also, this website will be updated with all the necessary resources needed

In line with Department of Education guidance, a fuller document summarising our approach to remote learning can be found here: Summary of Edge Approach to Remote Learning Jan 2021

As part of our blended learning package, students will have access to the following:

Key Stage 3 work packs for every subject taught, including: English/ Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Life Skills, Art, Project and Food and Nutrition.

Key Stage 4 work packs for every subject taught, including: English Literature, English Language/ Literacy, Mathematics, Combined Science, Life Skills, Art, Media Studies and Food and Nutrition.

Digital online resources have been provided for all. Each subject area has given at least three links to access lots of recommended online activities, quizzes, learning activities and games to support the materials supplied in your work packs.

We are also pleased to offer teacher led lessons for students to access on The Edge Academy YouTube Channel.

In addition to all of these resources, there are a range of learning platforms you can access from home including: The Oak National Academy, BBC Bitesize and Seneca Distance Learning. Links to these and a variety of other materials for all subjects can be found below.

In the event of a switch to remote learning, we will also keep in touch with you all regarding the innovative events we run on top of this, including “Virtual Tutor Time”, our online cookery masterclasses and much more!

If you have any questions or concerns at all about remote learning, please contact Assistant Principal Claire Fairburn at [email protected]

In the meantime, don’t forget that all students are welcome to access the materials on this section of the website, even when school is fully open as normal. There are lots of general learning and revision activities which you may find useful throughout the year!
