We hope you have all stayed safe and well throughout January: a warm welcome to February 2021! It has been a pleasure to see so many students attending our in-school provision in the lockdown period but this section of the website provides important information about any times where students may need to work from home.

As you know, the second physical work pack of 2021 has been brought to your doors. Please support your child in completing five hours of work a day from the range of resources we have given you. The work can be completed in the work packs or in the exercise books we have provided.

Once the work has been completed, you can take a picture of it and email it to subject staff at The Edge Academy. Alternately, give us a call and we will collect your work and bring more work out to you.

Please remember there are excellent rewards for reading 25 fiction or non-fiction texts. If you would like these to be brought to you, please contact us and we will get a text out to you.

In line with Department of Education guidance, a fuller document summarising our approach to remote learning can be found here (Summary of Edge Approach to Remote Learning Jan 2021)   Please check the link works. Thank you.

As part of our blended learning package, students have access to the following:

Key Stage 3 work packs for every subject taught, including: English/ Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Life Skills, Art, Project and Catering.

Key Stage 4 work packs for every subject taught, including: English Literature/ Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Life Skills, Art, Project, Media Studies and Catering.

Digital online resources have been provided for all. Each subject area has given at least three links to access lots of recommended online activities, quizzes, learning activities and games to support the materials supplied in your work packs.

We are also pleased to offer teacher led lessons for students to access on The Edge Academy YouTube Channel. There is one lesson a day, per Key Stage, equating to five teacher led lessons a week.

In addition to all of these resources, there are a range of learning platforms you can access from home including: The Oak National Academy, BBC Bitesize, Seneca Distance Learning, Get Set Tokyo and music taught by the Services for Education staff. Links to these and a variety of other materials for all subjects can be found below. We will also keep in touch with you all regarding the innovative events we run on top of this, including “Virtual Tutor Time”, our online cookery masterclasses and much more!

If you have any questions or concerns at all about remote learning, please contact Assistant Principal Claire Fairburn at claire.fairburn@theedgeacademy.co.uk
