Dear Parent/Carer,

Student enrichment experiences are a vital part of our Safe, Ready, Respectful curriculum at the Edge Academy and school visits to different environments and places outside of the local area form a key aspect of that provision.

We are planning to give further such opportunities to students in Years 9 and 10 during the week beginning April 4th 2022. Students will be out of school to visit Habberley Valley local nature reserve near Kidderminster, Kinver Edge rock houses and caves, and the attractive Georgian towns of Bewdley and Stourport that sit directly upon the River Severn.

All participants will need to wear comfortable clothing and trainer type shoes; open toe shoes, sandals or sliders are not recommended. The minibus will leave school promptly at 9.45pm on the days in question and will return at approximately 2.00pm. Students will be free to leave from school upon return at 2.00pm in recognition of the full day of offsite activities that they will have been actively participating within.

Lunch, refreshments and drinks will be provided as part of all trips, however there may be opportunity for students to access other refreshments or amusement arcades in Stourport should they wish to bring a small amount of money themselves. This is optional and not necessarily required.

The trips and activities in Cultural Capital Week will operate as follows:

  • Monday 4th April- trip mentioned above for 10A students only.
  • Tuesday 5th April- trip mentioned above for Year 9 students only.
  • Wednesday 6th April- trip mentioned above for 10B students only.
(in addition, 10A to complete final visit to Kings Heath Park as planned 11.30-2.30 as part of their Careers and Enterprise project)
  • Thursday 7th April- Year 11 Progress Day (details in a separate letter now also online)
  • Friday 8th April- 10A team building trip to Ackers Trust, leaving school at 9.30 returning for end of day at 12pm. Outdoor clothing and footwear will be required for this.

Should you have any queries regarding this trip, please do not hesitate to contact the school, or myself directly via [email protected] or replying via the SMS text message sent from school to notify you of the trip.

Yours faithfully,

Charlotte Poynton

Assistant Principal
