Dear parent/carer,

Further to our recent letters, I am this writing to confirm arrangements for provision for free school meals for the week commencing Monday March 23rd following our closure to all students except those classed in government guidance as “children of keyworkers” or “most vulnerable”.

The government has issued guidance that explains what schools should do to make sure eligible pupils have continued access to free school meals where:

  • the pupil has to stay at home because they and/or wider family members are displaying coronavirus (COVID-19) related symptoms
  • the school is only open for certain groups or is closed temporarily

The Edge Academy is committed to supporting our young people and families throughout this period of closure and therefore are supplying, as per the government recommendations, a £10 voucher per week for each eligible free school meal student.

This voucher can be redeemed at any Sainsbury’s supermarket or Sainsbury’s Local store. We will continue to provide these vouchers on a weekly basis to families eligible until further notice.

Our safeguarding commitment to our students (and their families) no longer attending school remains as strong as ever. Don’t forget that if you have any safeguarding queries during this unprecedented period of school closure, the e-mail addresses for the safeguarding team, which are monitored around the clock, every day, are below:
