Dear Parents/ Carers and Students,

We hope you are all staying safe and well.

Usually at the end of every academic year, we take our students to the seaside. Last year’s trip to Barry Island was such fun and an immense amount of enjoyment was had by all! Unfortunately, this year, due to Covid 19, we cannot make this trip. Therefore, we have decided to complete a virtual trip from The Edge Academy to Barry Island – and back, which is 224.8 miles long!

This year we would like students and staff to team together to complete this distance in any way possible: walking, running, jogging, cycling, swimming…, or using any other method which is safe and legal!

All students need to do is send in a picture of themselves (via social media) telling us the distance they have covered and we will add this to the total number of miles. (Remember we need to get to 224.8 miles in total together!)

We are asking colleagues, friends and families to help us raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The hospital provides a wide range of health services to children and adolescents from across the UK and has expertise in areas such as liver transplantation, cardiac surgery and neonatal surgery.

If you wish to help our chosen charity and make a donation please access the direct link at: https://gf.me/u/yf369f. Alternatively, click on the link on the school’s webpage, on any of our social media sites, or search “Edge2Barry” on the “Go Fund Me” website.

Thank you all in advance for your help and support- please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like any further details. My direct e-mail address is [email protected] and a video version of this letter is now available on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/zefKHiK9HK8

Yours faithfully,
