Half-Term 5 Cultural Capital Week

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you know, student enrichment experiences are a vital part of our Safe, Ready, Respectful curriculum at the Edge Academy and school visits to different environments and places outside of the local area form a key aspect of that provision.

We are planning to give further such opportunities to students in Connect, Year 9 and Year 10 during the week beginning May 23rd 2022. Students will be out of school to visit West Midlands Safari Park and Worcester.

All participants will need to wear comfortable clothing and trainer type shoes for the visits; open toe shoes, sandals or sliders are not recommended. The minibus will leave school promptly at 9.45pm on the days in question and will return at approximately 2.00pm. Students will be free to leave from school upon return at 2.00pm in recognition of the full day of offsite activities that they will have been actively participating within.

Lunch, refreshments and drinks will be provided as part of all trips, however there may be opportunity for students to access other refreshments or amusement arcades should they wish to bring a small amount of money themselves. This is optional and not necessarily required.

The trips and activities in Cultural Capital Week will operate as follows:

  • Monday 23rd May 2022- Group 10A to the Safari Park
  • Tuesday 24th May 2022- Group 9B to the Safari Park
  • Wednesday 25th May 2022- Group B 10B to the Safari Park
Y9 Stepping Up Day (see separate letter already issued)
  • Thursday 26th May 2022- Group 9A to the Safari Park
  • Friday 27th May 2022- Connect trip to Worcester
    (12.15pm finish)

Should you have any queries regarding this trip, please do not hesitate to contact the school, or myself directly via [email protected] or reply via the SMS text message sent from school to notify you of the trip.

Yours faithfully,

Charlotte Poynton
