It is a privilege to lead the Edge Academy at what has been a time of exciting change. Since joining the academy in March I have been impressed by the dedication and commitment of the hard working staff team that focus on ensuring students reach their potential. We continuously strive to provide the best opportunities for all of our students and are reassured by our recent DfE monitoring visit that confirmed we are taking the right steps in order to do just that.
Many of our students join us having had numerous challenges to overcome. Mainstream school is not the right environment for all and The Edge Academy provides students with the chances to be successful in an alternative environment with a very different curriculum.
We focus on personalisation, valuing each student as an individual and recognising that each and every one has talents and skills that need nurturing in order to fully develop. Students have opportunities to secure at least 5 level 2 qualifications alongside vocational learning opportunities. We are particularly proud of the recent developments to our work related learning programme. This involves all key stage 4 students completing regular work placements and all students working towards employability qualifications; a vital part of our drive to prepare students for the world of further education and employment.
We aim to enable all students to:
1. Achieve their potential in securing high quality qualifications
2. Be prepared for life-long learning and the world of work
3. Have high aspirations and self-belief
4. Work collaboratively with others irrespective of differences
We welcome visitors to the academy and encourage all stakeholders to play an active role in our school improvement journey. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have feedback or wish to find out how you can support the development of our students.
